Our focus area
The United Nations has defined 17 sustainability development goals. Hana Group has decided to prioritize 6 of them: zero hunger, good health and well-being, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below Water. The UN has defined five elements of the zero hunger challenge: (1) sustainable food systems; (2) rural poverty; (3) loss and waste of food; (4) access to adequate food and healthy diets; and (5) ending malnutrition.
Hana Group supports the ZERO HUNGER goal through various initiatives:
- Commitment to reduce loss and waste of food thanks to our optimized production plan & algorithm;
- Our zero waste initiative with special prices for excess food;
- Use of an ingredient red list, to avoid ingredients that cause unsustainable harm to the planet or people;
- Full transparency on the nutritional information of our products’ labels allows customers to make informed choices.

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Hana Group supports good health and well-being through various initiatives:
- Deep rooted food safety culture and software enabling us to have consumers’ feedbacks;
- Responsible sourcing with sustainable fish and seafood;
- Full transparency of our products’ labels allows customers to make informed choices;
- Increase of our veggie range and number of products;
- Commitment to increase the range of our well-rated products by the end of 2023 (Nutriscore) and preferred natural ingredients (all our tailor-made sauces follow a clean label policy).

Hana Group supports decent work and economic growth through various initiatives:
- Ethical chart and supplier audit to prevent modern slavery, trafficking and child labour;
- Promote full employment with fair wages;
- Continuous on-the-job and off-the-job training.

Ensure sustainable consumption and product pattern
Hana Group supports responsible consumption and production:
- We reviewed our packagings to standardize and optimize and promote recycled and recyclable packagings: our poke packagings are sustainable and our sushi packagings are 100% recycled and recyclable since June 22;
- Key ingredients including salmon have been assessed for resource security (UK);
- Daily tracking of food waste and optimized algorithm to ensure it’s minimized.

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Hana Group supports this SDG by tracking and reducing its carbon footprint:
- Evaluation of our carbon footprint in progress in 2022;
- Carbon footprint perimeter taken into account in supply chain decision with emphasis on local supply chain solutions: French & European rice, European salmon… for local supply;
- Evaluation of our suppliers in 2022 with Ecovadis.
